The House kept its session open for more than two hours Monday, then adjourned without taking action on any major bills that have been bottled up in weeks of negotiations, including a road and bridge maintenance funding package for which a compromise appears to be imminent. Representatives advanced local bills affecting Pittsfield, Monson, Avon, Wakefield and Wrentham as well as a sick leave bank for a Trial Court employee. The House once again took no action on Rep. Michael Day’s omnibus gun reform bill (HD 4420), which has been stalled in a procedural spat over which joint committee should hold a hearing on the proposal. Speaker Ron Mariano has said he wants his branch approve the bill before the traditional August break that’s now a week away.
